OCTOBER 7, 2015: NEW TRAIL OPENS – AGAIN

Today, we opened about 2 miles of really awesome new trail in the RAT system, all built by Southwest Conservation Corps and Sweet Sustainable Single Track.  Access it from the north end of Double Crosser (formerly known as K). Click the “trails” tab above to locate Double Crosser. The new trail rolls and swoops down-and-out into the valley northeast of San Juan Ridge Road and hits a two track just short of Alkali Creek. This section has a really great, back-country flavor. Reminds me of the old, outlaw days, riding in Aliso State Park in Laguna Canyon. IMG_4217

Eventually this will cross a bridge over Alkali Creek and loop around a hill near County Rd. 8. For now, at the end of the single track, take the two-track northwest to the gate. Jump on 550 South for about 50 yards then head back southwest up the two track, cross back through another gate onto State Park land, ride up San Juan Ridge Road, through the gate at BLM, where you hit Double Crosser. Back to 4 corners. The loops are starting to stack up nicely.

We will open another fantastic new loop tomorrow or Friday. These trails do not yet have names, but will in a few days. Enjoy. And don’t forget well have another volunteer work day this Sunday. Meet at County Road 10B at 8:00am.
